AIDES

ACTION is an International Partnership of Civil Society Advocates

ACTION’s mission is to build support for increased resources for effective TB control, especially among key policymakers and other opinion leaders in both high TB burden countries and donor countries.  With effective policy advocacy and greater political will, rapid progress can be made against the global TB epidemic.

AIDES

Background: Founded in 1984 and recognized as a public utility in 1990, AIDES was the first and is the leading HIV/AIDS organization in France. AIDES works to strengthen access to treatment, care and prevention, and advocacy for the HIV/AIDS community on a local, national and international scale.

Mission: AIDES supports and empowers people living with HIV/AIDS to play an active role in the health systems and affect important public health decisions.

AIDES has been instrumental in working towards ACTION’s goals.

  1. AIDES have played key roles in raising awareness of TB among French policymakers, including organization of a parliamentary delegation to Burkina Faso in March 2009.
  2. AIDES, along with other European CSOs, continue to raise awareness about the need to fully fund the Global Fund to European decision makers.  In 2009, they helped launch the “Remind the Gap” campaign,  securing the support of over 100 organizations from 25 countries.
  3. AIDES catalyzed the establishment of the Europe TB Coalition, the first Coalition to address TB within the European Union.
